Workers at three trusts are set to strike over plans to outsource roles, with their union warning there will be national walkouts over SubCo plans.
Staff at Dorset County Hospital, University Hospitals Dorset and Dorset HealthCare have voted in favour of industrial action over plans to move them to NHS-owned subsidiary companies (SubCos), Unison said today.
Should it go ahead, the industrial action would see porters, cleaners, caterers and other support service staff walk out.
The union has also warned there could be “widespread strike action across the NHS in autumn” if there is not “prompt action” to address its concerns. All trusts were instructed to slash their corporate services budgets back in March by NHS England chief executive Sir Jim Mackey, with SubCos identified as the favoured approach.
