Government

Gemma Aldridge, a former editor of the Sunday Mirror and Sunday People, has been appointed to DHSC to undertake a short review of media and digital work at DHSC and NHSE.

Tom Riordan, the second permanent secretary of DHSC, is leaving his position for a new role as the Government’s ‘Envoy for the Northern Growth Corridor’.

ICBs and trusts

East Suffolk and North Essex FT announced that its Chief Executive, Nick Hulme, is resigning from his role. Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Finance Adrian Marr will become interim CEO in the new year.

David Roberts has been appointed interim Chair of Norfolk and Waveny Hospital Group.

Sir David Henshaw is leaving his position as Joint Chair for Wirral University Teaching Hospital FT and Wirral Community Health and Care FT to become interim Chair of Cheshire and Merseyside ICB.

Royal Berkshire CEO Steve McManus, who has been in the role since 2017, will leave his role in July 2026.

St Mary’s Hospital has appointed Simon Blanchflower, a railway infrastructure chief, to deliver on a £2.2 billion new hospital project after it was delayed by the Government's national programme.

Chief Executive of Imperial College Healthcare Tim Orchard has been appointed to lead the North West London Acute Provider Group, which also includes Chelsea and Westminster, London North West, and the Hillingdon Hospitals trusts.

Health bodies

Sir Julian Hartley, CEO of the CQC, has resigned from his role with immediate effect. Arun Chopra, Chief inspector of Mental Health, will assume the role of interim CEO.
