Supporting Our Community Through Change
Across the NHS we continue to see significant change and pressure across our healthcare system. Recent supply challenges, such as the disruption caused by the Stryker cyber attack and Heraeus bone cement recall, alongside the ongoing reorganisation within NHS England and constant financial pressures, have created additional challenges for all our members who work tirelessly to keep services running.
As a specific example, we recognise the impact that organisational change has had across commissioning and support functions, including the loss of valued colleagues within Trusts, CSUs, Integrated Care Boards and NHS England. Many of those individuals have been long-standing members of our professional community and have made an enormous contribution to improving procurement, supply chain resilience, and value for the NHS.
We know this period has not been easy. The work our members do is often behind the scenes, yet it is critical to ensuring that frontline clinicians have the equipment, services, and support they need to deliver patient care, whilst helping maximise the value delivered from every pound the NHS spends.
On behalf of HCSA, I want to acknowledge the professionalism, resilience, and dedication shown by all our members during these challenging times, as well as the suppliers who work so hard to support us.
HCSA will always remain committed to helping members navigate and deliver against the backdrop of constant change and pressure. We will continue to represent the voice of NHS procurement and supply chain professionals and support you through networks, development opportunities, and advocacy as the system continues to evolve.
To everyone across our community — thank you for the vital work you do every day - it is vital, valued and appreciated.
