The HCSA was saddened to learn of the death of Ian Bradshaw, a much remembered figure in NHS Procurement and HCSA Chairman from 1999-2002.
Ian's last years had been marred by ill health and sadly contact with HCSA Officers had become difficult though we ensured he received some flowers in our final contact. In typical Ian fashion he thanked us but politely requested we save our money.
Paying tribute, John Cooper, former NHS Supplies Authority and NHS PASA leader, said: “Ian Bradshaw was the single minded driving force behind the creation of what is now NHS Supply Chain. In the mid 1990s, taking the disparate inheritance of the English regional warehousing and distribution facilities, Ian moulded a modern, efficient and cost effective “national” logistics service. Viewed historically, Ian’s contribution to the development of NHS supply management is unique and certainly his impact is the longest lasting - he was a big man with big ideas but more importantly he was able to deliver.”
