The Department of Health and Social Care is expecting to spend at least £8m on new IT infrastructure to aid its takeover of NHS England’s functions.
An award notice said the three-year contract had been won by Cognizant Worldwide and the estimated year one charge was £4m, excluding VAT.
The US firm will “support [DHSC] with its transformation programme, which ultimately entails the abolition of NHS England and the transfer of many of its functions to the DHSC”, the notice said. The contract is for supporting the “design and implementation of the new department’s corporate IT infrastructure”.
