The Department of Health and Social Care are inviting expressions of interest from individuals wishing to become a Value Based Procurement Champion (deadline 28 August).

Background

In June 2026, the Department published the VBP Standard Guidance, which provides a consistent methodology for assessing value in medtech procurement decisions. As the Guidance moves into implementation, we are building a network of Champions to support its adoption across the system.

VBP Champions will play a central role in driving the adoption of Value Based Procurement across their organisations. As advocates for change, Champions will:

• Support colleagues in applying the VBP Standard Guidance

• Share learnings and best practice with peers across the network

• Help the Department refine the Guidance over time, based on real-world experience

Who we're looking for

We are asking each organisation or procurement team to put forward two representatives:

• One senior-level sponsor (Band 8b+)

• One mid-senior manager (Band 7–8a)

We recognise that procurement structures vary across organisations, so these bands are indicative only - please use your judgement to identify the most appropriate individuals for these roles.

Please ensure you have permission to share a prospective member's contact details before submitting their information.

What's involved

Members of the network will be asked to:

• Conduct at least one procurement using the VBP Guidance

• Share a case study reflecting on their experience

Get involved

We're keen to build broad representation from Trusts, ICBs and procurement organisations across the system. Please register your interest using the form below, and share this with your networks.
