Edd James, Director of Procurement Humber Coast & Vale Procurement Collaborative, has spoken of his pride on collecting his MBE.
He collected the honour at Windsor Castle from HRH the Duke of Cambridge in want he described as a “surreal and fantastic day”.
Edd said: “The Duke of Cambridge completely threw me by knowing who I was, that I worked in procurement and what my team and I had been working on throughout COVID. I was 48th in the queue of 60 and other than my name he had no further prompts.”
The Duke of Cambridge commended everyone who worked in procurement throughout the pandemic and thanked everyone for all their hard work.
Edd added: “Accepting the award was a really difficult decision for me as I know the individuals on the front line who have had the physical and emotional demands placed upon them are the real heroes. However, as my wife Emma told me, it's not every day that procurement individuals are recognised. So this is for all of the silent heroes who battled to keep shelves full of stock for our front line who are there no matter what.”
