ICMDA is a charity that supports healthcare organisations worldwide and has become a significant facilitator of medical aid to Ukraine through our partnerships with NHS trusts, healthcare companies, charities and the logistics industry.
The ICMDA Ukraine Project was launched in February 2022 to provide medical resources for distribution to areas of healthcare need in Ukraine.
It works with partner organisations to source surplus medical equipment, consumables and pharmaceuticals in the UK and Europe, then arrange logistical support and funding to transport these supplies to Ukraine. In the last three years it has successfully delivered more than 150 lorry shipments of medical supplies to Ukraine.
ICMDA support other charities that may already be involved with NHS Organisations, without competing in anyway. The sole objective of ICMDA being to speed aid to wherever it’s needed as efficiently as possible
Its supporting partners to-date have included private health companies, for example The Circle Health Group, Kimal, Clinisupplies, Rocialle and Mediq, and NHS trusts such as Leeds, Northumbria, Barts, Gateshead, and Harrogate. We also work with charities such as British-Ukrainian Aid and Medical Aid Ukraine and with healthcare charities such as the Canadian HPIC, which help it to facilitate the delivery of pharmaceuticals.
In Ukraine shipments are delivered to the CMA (Christian Medical Association) of Ukraine in Lviv, which works under the authority of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. It has also set up a distribution warehouse centre to receive deliveries of humanitarian aid and a system to distribute medical supplies throughout Ukraine. All shipments are fully audited, and aid distributed via a traceable system to accredited hospitals, healthcare centres and frontline areas.
“ICMDA’s work has made a substantial contribution to the quality of care provided in Ukraine and this has a huge daily beneficial impact on our health care system, patients and their families. Through your generous donations we have been able to support the needs of Ukrainians during this challenging time for our country. Please accept our sincere appreciation of all your kind assistance and ongoing support. You truly make a difference for us, which is highly valued.” Victor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine
