The tragic events in Manchester on Monday night demanded an effective and resilient response from our Greater Manchester Procurement Teams.

Inventory levels and stock location management arrangements worked well with clinical staff having access to equipment & consumables across the receiving hospitals.

The level of activity soon depleted even well planned stock levels and emergency deliveries were provided by NHS Supply Chain; Bunzl;Squadron and other suppliers.

A number of suppliers offered free stock and 'without charge' emergency deliveries reflecting the scale of the national response to the terrorist attack.

HCSA Communications Lead (Simon Walsh) commented on 'the tremendous work of Greater Manchester Procurement staff whose dedication and professionalism supported clinical care.' This was shared by all the regional Directors & Heads of Procurement who were 'immensely proud and humbled' that their Departments could be of service.

Her Majesty the Queen visited the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on Thursday 25th May to thank both clinical and non-clinical staff for their efforts.
